KHARTOUM, May 15 (Xinhua) -- Sudan said on Monday that the African Union Peace and Security Council (AUPSC) has reiterated its support for Sudan's efforts to end the armed conflict in Darfur region.

The comment came as an AUPSC delegation started a four-day visit to Sudan, which includes a tour in the region of Darfur which has been suffering from a civil war since 2003.

"The delegation has praised the great improvement in all the situations in Darfur and the cooperation between the government and the AUPSC in addition to the great facilities provided by the government to the United Nations African Union Mission in Darfur (UNAMID)," Sudan's Foreign Ministry said in a press release on Monday.

"The AUPSC reiterated its strong support to Sudan and its efforts to achieve peace and stability in order to achieve the motto: African Solutions for African Issues," it noted.

Meanwhile, Sudan's Foreign Ministry Undersecretary Abdul-Ghani Al-Naeem expressed appreciation of the Sudanese government and people for the great role played by UNAMID in achieving security and stability in Darfur.

The delegation is expected to travel on Tuesday to Darfur States to inspect the security situations in the region.

The visit of AUPSC to Sudan is the fourth of its kind since the deployment of UNAMID in 2008.
