BEIJING, May 15 (Xinhua) -- Zhang Dejiang, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), met with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban on Monday, calling for more efforts to lift China-Hungary relations to a higher level.

China-Hungary ties have entered the best time in history with frequent high-level exchanges and solid political mutual trust, said Zhang when meeting Orban on the sidelines of a forum on the Belt and Road Initiative.

China and Hungary announced on Saturday the establishment of a comprehensive strategic partnership.

Zhang said he hopes the two countries will take the establishment of a comprehensive strategic partnership as an opportunity to lift bilateral relations to a higher level.

The NPC is willing to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the National Assembly of Hungary, said Zhang.

Speaking highly of the Belt and Road Initiative, Orban said he is happy to see a comprehensive strategic partnership and he is committed to carrying forward Hungary-China ties.
