AMMAN, May 13 (Xinhua) -- Jordan on Saturday blamed Israel for the killing of a Jordanian national in Jerusalem.

Jordan's Minister of State for Media Affairs Mohammad Momani said Israel is responsible for shooting the Jordanian citizen in East Jerusalem who was killed Saturday.

The minister said the Jordanian Foreign Ministry, through the Jordanian embassy in Tel Aviv, is following up on the killing of Jordanian citizen Mohammad Kasji to look into the incident.

The Jordanian minister condemned the crime and demanded Israel to reveal all the details about the crime.

The Jordanian citizen travelled recently as a tourist using an Israeli visa. He did not return with the tourist group.

Israeli police said a Jordanian tourist was shot dead after he stabbed and injured a police officer in East Jerusalem's Old City on Saturday.

The incident took place in Shalshelet street, near the flashpoint al-Aqsa mosque compound, a focal point of tensions between Israel and Muslims.
