BEIJING, May 13 (Xinhua) -- After a five-year break, Courier, a magazine published by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) resumed publication in April with the support of China.
Founded in 1948, the Courier has been spreading UNESCO's message of cultural diversity, communication between civilizations, and the spirit of peace, said UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova in Beijing Saturday.
The Courier, produced in print and online, serves readers from UNESCO's 195 member states in the six official languages of the Organization (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish) and in Portuguese.
"The reappearance of this historic journal in 2017, through the generous support of the People's Republic of China, is much more than the resumption of an editorial endeavour: it is a valuable opportunity to renew our commitment to the Courier's founding values," said Bokova on the Courier website.
The magazine stopped publication in 2012 due to financial difficulties.
The Chinese version of Courier will be translated by China Translation Corporation, and will be published and distributed in China by China Translation & Publishing House.
