KAMPALA, May 11 (Xinhua) -- British Prime Minister Theresa May and Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni are scheduled to meet on Thursday to discuss the ongoing conflict in South Sudan and Somalia.
A State House statement issued here said the two leaders will discuss the conflicts before the opening of the London Somalia Conference aimed at stabilizing the eastern African country.
Fighting in South Sudan broke out in late 2013 after a fall out between President Salva Kiir and his then deputy Riek Machar.
Since then the fighting has forced thousands of South Sudanese refugees to flee to neighboring countries including Uganda where they are hosted in the largest refugee camp in the world.
On the Somalia crisis, Museveni, according to his twitter handle, said they will discuss security sector reform, response to drought and the humanitarian crisis.
He said during the conference they will also discuss how to keep on course for increased stability by 2020.
Uganda was the first African country to deploy its troops in war torn Somalia in 2007.
The country contributes the bulk of the African Union peacekeeping troops in Somalia.
