BRATISLAVA, May 5 (Xinhua) -- Slovakia plans to finish and open three highway sections this year, Slovak Transport and Construction Minister Arpad Ersek announced on Friday.
The R2 expressway section between Zvolen East and Pstrusa in the Central Slovakia should be available to drivers as of mid-May. The D3 motorway stretch between Svrcinovec and Skalite in the Northern Slovakia will be open in early June and the D3 section between Zilina-Strazov and Zilina-Brodno in November. It means more than 30 km of the new highways and expressways.
Slovak National Highway Company general director Jan Durisin on Friday said more stretches would be constructed in eastern Slovakia.
"The total cost of these sections construction is almost 800 million euro (873 million U.S. dollars)," added Durisin.
Slovakia has currently 464 km of highways and 260 km of expressways in service.
