HANOI, May 4 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's top party leader decided to set up eight taskforces to monitor the investigation, prosecution and trial of major corruption cases in 20 provinces, local media reported Thursday.
General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong has asked the taskforces to focus on inspecting and supervising the handling of corruption cases, pinpointing the causes and taking measures to better fight against corruption, according to online newspaper Lao Dong (Labor).
The party chief has also asked the Central Committee of Internal Affairs to compile reports from the taskforces to present them to the Central Steering Committee for Corruption Prevention and Control before Oct. 30.
The steering committee have already established 32 taskforces to supervise relevant works in 15 ministries and sectors at central levels and in 43 localities nationwide in the 2013-2016 period, online newspaper VnExpress reported.
