ACCRA, April 28 (Xinhua) -- Ghana and Latvia on Friday expressed commitment to enhance bilateral trade and explore business opportunities.
A first-ever trade mission from Latvia led by Andrejs Pildegovics, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, engaged their Ghanaian counterparts in a business meeting to discuss potential areas of investments.
Addressing the meeting, the Acting Chief Director of Ghana's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Edwin Adjei, urged prospective investors from Latvia to consider Ghana as the gateway to a wider West African market of over 300 million people.
Over the past decade, Ghana has witnessed impressive economic annual growth rate averaging over 6.4 percent.
Adjei said these opportunities and many others, including political and micro-economic stability, were all available for the benefit of anyone seeking to do business in Ghana, assuring them of higher returns on investments than anywhere in the West African sub-region.
"In view of these developments, Latvia has the opportunity to share in Ghana's economic growth success story while we also look forward to tapping into the rich experience of Latvia, especially with much focus on development cooperation based on our shared values and aspirations," he said.
Andrejs Pildegovics said his country was genuinely looking for business opportunities with Ghana and West Africa.
"We look forward for more engagements with African companies," said Pildegovics.
