TOKYO, April 28 (Xinhua) -- Sharp Corp. announced Friday it had posted its first operating profit in three years in the fiscal year that ended in March.
Sharp said it logged a group operating profit of 62.45 billion yen (561 million U.S. dollars) and had turned around a 161.97 billion yen loss made in fiscal 2015.
The turnaround was made owing to restructuring efforts under Taiwanese parent company Hon Hai Precision Industry Co.
The company suffered a group net loss of 24.88 billion yen, however, compared with 255.97 billion yen a year earlier, Sharp said.
The Osaka-headquartered firms also said its sales had retreated 16.7 percent to 2.05 trillion yen.
Next month, Sharp will release its earnings outlook for the current fiscal year ending March 2018, the company said. (1 Japanese yen = 0.009 U.S. dollar)
