TOKYO, April 28 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened slightly higher Friday as buying was supported by some solid corporate earnings reports here, although gains were capped ahead of a long public holiday here next week.
As of 9:15 a.m. local time, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average edged up 7.18 points, or 0.04 percent, from Thursday to 19,259.05.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, inched 1.40 points, or 0.09 percent higher to 1,538.07.
Information and communication sector and mining issues comprised those that advanced the most in early trade.
