BISHKEK, April 27 ( Xinhua) -- The opening ceremony of the first Bishkek Cultural Forum was held in Bishkek on Thursday, aiming at presenting Kyrgyz culture in front of international organizations and national cultures of the world.
Bishkek mayor's office said in a pres release that the main task of the event was to hold cultural dialogue of countries from the five continents, create mechanisms for the preservation, mutual enrichment, rapprochement and development of unique cultures of different peoples and civilizations.
The week-long forum will be attended by about 60 representatives of 24 countries from Europe, Asia and Africa as well as some international organizations.
The event is of significance as it is the first time that representatives of folklore and professional classical art from different continents of the world gather in one arena to discuss culture affairs, the press release said.
