VALLETTA, April 27 (Xinhua) -- The sum of 3.7 million euros (4.02 million U.S. dollars) in EU funding has been secured to finance three new projects aimed at enhancing Malta's security, Maltese Parliamentary Secretariat for EU Presidency Ian Borg announced on Thursday.
The projects' estimated cost is around 5 million euros, so the EU funding will cover three quarters of the costs.
The projects aims to invest in x-ray scanning equipment to enhance Malta's Customs Department's capabilities, providing access to language learning for migrants, and to facilitate their integration in Maltese society.
Another project will focus on the completion of a high degree isolation unit to ensure that transmission of infections does not occur.
