MINSK, April 26 (Xinhua) -- The Trilateral Contact Group on Ukraine agreed the mechanism for verifying desires of prisoners in Donbas, the OSCE's Special Representative to Contact Group on Ukraine Martin Sajdik told local media on Wednesday.

Following the Contact Group meeting, Sajdik said the parties agreed that the verification of the lists of people who are detained in penitentiary institutions of Ukraine and do not want to return to the territories of Donbas, not controlled by Ukraine within the framework of the exchange of hostages, will be held as soon as possible.

The Contact Group has discussed an incident that took place on April 23 involving the blowing up of an OSCE Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) vehicle near Luhansk. The negotiators heard the head of the OSCE special monitoring mission in Ukraine Ertugrul Apakan about the tragic incident.

The OSCE representative stressed preserving the ceasefire regime in the conflict zone in Ukraine is crucial to advancing the peace process.

Sajdik also noted an effective discussion on water supply to certain areas of Luhansk region. During the discussion the parties demonstrated a common willingness to pay their debts and resume water supplies in full, he added.

The next meeting of the Contact Group is scheduled for May 15.
