Zambian leader seeks to consolidate ties with Czech Republic

LUSAKA, April 26 (Xinhua) -- Zambian President Edgar Lungu on Wednesday said his government was committed to enhance cooperation with the Czech Republic.

Lungu said when Czech Republic's Ambassador-Designate to Zambia Radeck Rubes presented his letters of credence at State House that it was in the interest of his government to consolidate relations with other countries at a time it was diversifying its economy and expanding industrial base.

Zambia, he said, was looking forward to closely collaborating with the Czech Republic in order to learn from the country's admirable expertise in various sectors such as agriculture, energy and health.

According to him, the Czech Republic's decision to open an embassy in Zambia was a positive development aimed at enhancing bilateral relations, adding that this will open up several new doors of fruitful cooperation.

On his part, the Czech Republic envoy assured of his government's commitment to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.

He said he was impressed with the great interests in Zambia to take the cooperation to a greater height.
