SYDNEY, April 26 (Xinhua) -- A group of former senior police officers of Australia have revealed a 100-point plan to counter Melbourne's crime crisis.

Under the plan released on Wednesday, police would be forced to meet strict response times for high-priority calls such as carjackings and home invasions.

Proposed by the Community Advocacy Alliance (CAA), led by former Victoria Police Chief Commissioner Kevin Glare, the document recommended the installation of nudge bars on police cars and fitting all new cars with Global Positioning Systems (GPS).

The group would also establish a Youth Command department to focus on young people and give immigration officials the power to deport people after being arrested.

"There is something radically wrong with what is happening in policing in Victoria," Glare told News Limited on Wednesday.

"If the system needs changing to see that those jobs take precedence and get urgent attention and rapid attention, then that's what needs to happen."

The group, which also boasts former police staff from Tasmania and Queensland, has received the support of Victorian Opposition Leader Matthew Guy.

"The justice system is broken and we need to make changes starting with mandatory sentencing for repeat violent offenders to make our streets safe," Guy said.

Under the CAA plan, police response times in Victoria would be made public to ensure accountability.
