BELGRADE, April 25 (Xinhua) -- Estonia will continue to support Serbia's European integration process during Estonia's presidency of the Council of the European Union (EU) that starts in July, Estonian Foreign Minister Sven Mikser said here Tuesday.
Mikser made the remarks while meeting with Serbian Prime Minister and president-elect Aleksandar Vucic discuss Serbia's European path, bilateral ties, as well as relations between countries in the region, a Serbian government statement said.
Mikser congratulated Vucic on his victory in the presidential elections and stressed that "progress of Serbia on the EU path is very important for the stability of the region."
According to the statement, Vucic stressed during their conversation that membership in EU and stability of the Western Balkans were priorities for Serbia, and updated Mikser on results of economic reforms that led to the stabilization of the business environment and a more favorable investment climate in Serbia.
During his visit to Serbia, Mikser also met incumbent president Tomislav Nikolic and foreign minister Ivica Dacic and exchanged positions about Serbia's European integration.
Dacic and Mikser agreed that EU integration should be a means to secure peace and stability in the region, as well to achieve economic development.
