HO CHI MINH CITY, April 25 (Xinhua) -- Police of Vietnam's Ho Chi Minh City have recently detained two local men for possessing and trading 4.2 kg of methamphetamine, and 292 ecstasy pills.

The police also confiscated two guns and 1 billion Vietnamese dong (44,800 U.S. dollars) in cash from the two men, the municipal Police Department said on Tuesday.

According to initial investigation, one of the men bought lab-made drugs in a foreign country and transported to Ho Chi Minh City by interprovincial coach. The other man bought the drugs and resell them to other local drug dealers or users.

According to Vietnamese law, those convicted of smuggling over 600 grams of heroin or more than 2.5 kg of methamphetamine will be sentenced to death. Making or trading 100 grams of heroin or 300 grams of other illegal drugs also faces death penalty.
