ISLAMABAD, April 23 (Xinhua) -- At least 11 people were killed and several others injured in separate rain-related accidents in Pakistan over the past 24 hours, local media and officials said Sunday.

Geo TV reported that the country's east Punjab province was the worst hit where torrential rains claimed seven lives.

The deceased included four of a family including two women and two kids whose house collapsed due to heavy downpour in Kamonki district.

In a separate incident in Sheikhupura district, a power transmission cable fell on an under-construction house, injuring six laborers working inside.

They were shifted to a nearby hospital where three of them were pronounced dead and the others are said to be in critical condition.

In the country's northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, four people were killed in separate rain-caused accidents, the provincial disaster management authority said.

Pakistan Meteorological Department said that rains and dust storms, associated with gusty winds and hailstorms, are likely to hit scattered places in both the provinces over the next 24 hours.
