TRIPOLI, April 21 (Xinhua) -- Mohamed Amari Zayed, Libya's presidential council member and minister of state for specialized council affairs, met on Thursday with Lt. Gen. Paolo Serra, security adviser of the UN mission to Libya, in the council's headquarter in Tripoli.
The two officials discussed the latest security developments in Libya, particularly in the south of the country, as well as the eastern oil crescent.
Serra informed Zayed of the mission's efforts and support for Libyan security and military institutions, as well as the latest security arrangements based on the political agreement.
Zayed stressed the mission's efforts to establish security and stability in Libya, and its support of a dialogue between Libyan parties.
Despite a UN-sponsored peace deal by Libya's political rivals and a unity government, the country is still suffering political division amid insecurity and chaos.
Since the fall of Muammar Gaddafi's regime in 2011, Libya has been struggling to make a democratic transition.
