PARIS, April 19 (Xinhua) -- France will bring "in a few days" evidence proving that the Syrian government "knowingly" used fatal gas in the rebel-held town of Khan Sheikhoun earlier this month, Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault said on Wednesday.
"We have elements that will allow us to show that the regime knowingly used chemical weapons," Ayrault told LCP television.
"In few days, we will prove that the regime has organized these strikes," he added.
A report of the Syrian Observatory for Human Right said 87 people were killed, among them many children, on April 4 in a toxic gas attack by Syrian warplanes on the rebel-held town of Khan Sheikhoun in the country's northwestern province of Idlib.
Damascus has repeatedly denied possession of any chemical weapons. Syrian President Bashar al-Assad described the report on suspected use of chemical arms as "100 percent fabrication" to justify western powers' strikes against the regime.
In a report released on Wednesday, the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) said analyses' results indicated the victims' exposure to Sarin or a Sarin-like substance.
"While further details of the laboratory analyses will follow, the analytical results already obtained are incontrovertible," said Ahmet Uzumcu, OPCW General Director.
