RAMALLAH, April 19 (Xinhua) -- A Palestinian was killed Wednesday after carrying out a car-ramming attack at Gush Itzion Crossroad north of the West Bank town of Heron, leaving one Israeli injured, medics said.
The Palestinian Health Ministry in the West Bank confirmed in a press statement that the Palestinian was critically injured and later died of his wounds.
Israeli Public Radio has meanwhile reported that a Palestinian car driver was shot dead after he launched a car-ramming attack north of Hebron in the West Bank and wounded at least one Israeli bystander.
The radio quoted Israeli army sources as saying that Israeli soldiers at the scene opened fire at the car and critically wounded the driver after he drove his car over a group of Israelis standing near the crossroad.
The incident was the latest in a spate of violence between Israelis and Palestinians that have claimed lives of at least 241 Palestinians, 41 Israelis, two U.S. nationals, a British tourist, and two African asylum seekers since September 2015.
Israel accuses the Palestinian National Authority of "inciting" the unrest. The Palestinians say it is the result of 50 years of Israeli occupation of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, home to more than five million Palestinians.
