MADRID, April 15 (Xinhua) -- Three people have been sent to prison for causing disturbances during the traditional Easter processions in the city of Seville, the Spanish press reported on Saturday.

The disturbances, which happened in the early hours of Friday, saw one person suffer a serious cranial injury, while the police say there were "serious acts of vandalism" during the procession of the "Virgin of the Macarena" carried through the city streets.

Eight people were arrested accused of acts of vandalism, causing a disturbance, and threatening behavior, such as hitting the floor with metal bars to make noise and try and cause confusion during the procession.

Earlier in the week there was a stampede which led to 17 people being injured, in one of the religious processions being held in the city of Malaga when a brawl caused panic amid spreading rumors of a terror attack.
