YANGON, April 14 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar will complete Badamyar gas field exploration project, situated in Andaman sea, at the end of May, official media reported Friday.
The project is undertaken at the M-5 and M-6 blocks in Yadana offshore complex in order to maintain the production of the maturing Yadana gas field up to 2021.
The project operations were launched in 2015 and implemented in cooperation with Total E & P Myanmar.
The operations include engineering procurement, developing wellhead platforms and the construction of compression platforms.
The Yadana natural gas project is operated by Total Company with its pipeline to Thailand.
The daily production from Yadana natural gas field reached 910 million cubic meters while 711 million cubic meters of which were exported to Thailand, according to the statistics in 2014.
Myanmar has abundant natural gas resources especially in the offshore areas.
A total of 22.41 billion U.S. dollars foreign investments entered into the oil and gas sector of the country up to March this year since 1988 and the sector topped the investment line-up.
