YANGON, April 14 (Xinhua) -- Gold price in Myanmar has hit a record high with 910,000 kyats (669 U.S. dollars) per tical along with the hike of global market price on the eve of the country's water festival on Wednesday evening when the market closed, according to market survey.
The global gold price was registered up to 1,278 U.S. dollars per ounce on the day.
The domestic high gold price has resulted in hesitation of some gold buyers along with the circulated news of taxation on gold purchase, the official Global New Light of Myanmar reported on Friday.
According to the survey, the gold market is traditionally cool during the water festival which will last four days and the Myanmar new calendar year will fall on next Monday after which, private businesses will partly reopen.
