YANGON, April 13 (Xinhua) -- Seven people were dead and one went missing as a motor vessel capsized in a Myanmar's river on Thursday before dawn, sources with the Fire Department said.
With 61 people on board, the motor vessel, which was on a pilgrimage tour from a village in Ann township, Rakhine state to Kyauktaw township, capsized in the Min Chaung river near May Lun township at 0315 a.m. local time as the fan of the vessel machine was jammed with fishing nets.
A total of 53 people survived the tragedy, the sources said.
Rescue work is underway by the local authorities, the sources added.
