KAMPALA, April 9 (Xinhua) -- KCCA FC have defeated Egypt's Al Masry SC 1-0 in the first leg of the play-off of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Confederations Cup.

Substitute Derrick Nsibambi scored the lone goal four minutes into added time at the Philip Omondi Stadium on Saturday to put the Ugandan League champions in an advantage position.

Leading striker in the Ugandan Premier League Geoffrey Sserunkuma had two wasted chances, while Brian Majwega and Paul Masiko also shot wide all in the first half for the hosts.

The Egyptian side only had Elsayed Abdelaal and Ahmed Abdalraof try at goal.

In the second half, the visitors came back strongly but failed to break the KCCA FC defence marshled by skipper Denis Okot and Isaac Muleme.

Later KCCA FC coach Mike Mutebi introduced Nsibambi for the injured Muzamir Mutyaba, and the change paid off.

It was Nsimbambi who finished off well past Al Masry goalkeeper Ahmed Abdelhalim after four minutes of added time.

It was all celebration at the Stadium after the final whistle.

"We were unlucky not to score in Kampala and also the artificial play ground caused my players lots of injury. But we shall fight back in Egypt," Al Masry's coach Hossam Hussien Hassan, a legendary former Egyptian international told Xinhua after the game.

KCCA FC who were ejected by South Africa's Mamelodi Sundowns in the first round of the CAF Total Champions League are now eager to qualify for the group stage of the Confederations Cup.

A draw in Egypt next Saturday will see them qualify for the group stage.
