NEW DELHI, April 8 (Xinhua) -- Two people were arrested Saturday for attacking and robbing a German tourist in New Delhi, the capital city of India, police said.

The 19-year-old Benjamin Scolt was attacked at Geeta Colony locality in New Delhi on Friday night.

"The two accused wanted for attack on German national have been arrested. Good work by Delhi Police," India's foreign minister Sushma Swaraj wrote on twitter.

On Saturday morning Swaraj asked for a report on the attack and directed local government to provide him best medical treatment.

Scolt was attacked with a sharp blade on face and robbed of his wallet containing Indian currency and cell phone while he was returning from old Delhi in a rickshaw. One of the attackers identified by Scolt was the rickshaw puller, police said.

The arrest of attackers has come within hours of Swaraj's notice to police.

Delhi is among the most unsafe places for foreigners in India. Attacks on foreign tourists have seen an increase over the years.
