MANILA, April 8 (Xinhua) -- Two earthquakes measuring 5.7 and 5.9 each on the Richter scale jolted the Philippines on Saturday, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) said.
The USGS said the tremors struck at 3:08 p.m. and 3:09 p.m.,respectively; the epicenter, with a depth of 42 km, was located 13 km northeast of the Mindoro province.
The quakes were felt at Calapan in Mindoro province, Batangas Province, and the Philippine capital of Manila.
So far there are no reports of casualties and damage from the quake-stricken areas, but power blackout in parts of the Luzon Island is reported.
Last Tuesday, a magnitude-5.4 earthquake hit Batangas province in the Luzon Island. The Philippine Volcanology and Seismology has so far recorded more than 900 aftershocks following Tuesday's quake.
