Ship stranded off southwestern Taiwan, 300 people await rescue

TAIPEI, April 7 (Xinhua) -- A passenger ship became stranded on the open waters about eight nautical miles off Budai Township in southwest Taiwan's Chiayi County at around 6 p.m. Friday, local media reported.

Over 70 people have been rescued so far, and about 300 others are still awaiting rescue. Four ships have been dispatched to join the rescue work.
