JAKARTA, April 3 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia's consumer price index (CPI) accelerated at a slower pace in March, due to weaker impact of hiking electricity tariff and vehicle registration cost.
The national statistic bureau said on Monday that annual inflation eased to 3.61 percent in March compared with 3.83 percent in February.
On month, deflation reached 0.02 percent in March from 0.23 percent inflation in February, Kecuk Suhariyanto, head of the bureau told a press conference at the bureau headquarters.
Annual core inflation, scrapping volatile foods prices and administered prices, slowed to 3.30 percent in March from 3.41 percent in February, he added.
Despite low inflation, the country's central bank may keep putting the prospect of rate hike by the U.S. Federal Reserve this year into consideration in its meeting in mid-April.
The lender expects inflation to accelerate to 3 to 5 percent this year with economic expansion of 5 to 5.4 percent.
