BELGRADE, March 31 (Xinhua) -- Serbian champions Red Star beat Unics Kazan 83-65 in the Round 29 of the Euroleague on Friday to keep their quarterfinal hope alive.
The Red Star will face Darussafaka Istanbul next week for the last spot in last eight, with Real Madrid, CSKA Moscow, Olympiacos Piraeus, Panathinaikos Athens, Anadolu Efes, Baskonia Vitoria and Fenerbahce Istanbul already qualifying.
After a weak start in which Red Star scored only two points in the first seven minutes, the Serbian team managed to impose their style of play in the second quarter for the first victory after three losses.
Milko Bjelica scored 19 points and Marko Guduric 18 points to lead the Red Star.
Keith Langford led the bottom team Unics with 16 points.
Red Star coach Dejan Radonjic said, "We thought 14 wins would have secured a place in the quarterfinals, unfortunately it is not enough. But we have a lot of reasons to be proud of our performance."
The Red Star are at the 8th placing with a 16-13 record, while Darussafaka on 9th by 15-14.
