SUVA, March 30 (Xinhua) -- The Fijian Elections Office and the Australian Electoral Commission have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for cooperation, the government-owned Fiji Broadcasting Corporation (FBC) said Thursday.
The MoU, signed in Canberra, Australia earlier this week by Fijian Elections Supervisor Mohammed Saneem and Australian Electoral Commissioner Tom Rogers, allows for exchange of information and materials, exchange of visiting experts and employees and sharing experience in election management, the FBC said.
In line with the MoU, Fiji and Australia can also conduct joint research and studies pertaining to the effective administration of elections.
During Fiji's 2014 general election, the Australian Electoral Commission came in to provide essential technical training and support.
Fiji holds its next general election in 2018.
