TALLINN, March 28 (Xinhua) -- Estonian Prime Minister Juri Ratas on Tuesday said that the Estonian defense industry increasingly contributes to economic growth and has an important role in developing local defense capability.
Visiting the Estonian Defense Industry Association (EDIA), Ratas stressed the need for the industry in current times, which is developing into an economic sector that has a high value creation and clear competitive advantages, creating new jobs in Estonia and increasingly contributing to economic growth.
"The product development created here will give Estonian troops an advantage on the battle field, and through this we are able to enhance the defense capability of our country," Ratas said.
Officials discussed the industry's significant development leap of recent years, and future opportunities to make cooperation between state and the industry more effective.
Founded in 2009 as a non-profit organization, EDIA aims to unite Estonian defense industry enterprises to create better defense service and product industry conditions.
