BEIJING, March 28 (Xinhua) -- Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic will pay a state visit to China from March 28 to April 1 at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Nikolic, 65, was born in Kragujevac in central Serbia and received a master's degree in economics at Novi Sad University.

Nikolic is the founder of the Serbian Progressive Party.

He was elected as a member of parliament in the Serbian National Assembly for the first time in 1992.

Nikolic has served as a deputy prime minister of the Serbian government and the government of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.

He was sworn in as Serbian president on May 31, 2012.
