At least one at large following U.S. nightclub shooting

WASHINGTON, March 26 (Xinhua) -- At least one person is still at large following the U.S. nightclub shooting, which left at least one dead and 14 others wounded early on Sunday in Cincinnati in the mid-east U.S. state of Ohio, Cincinnati police said.

"Only one reported shooter at this time, still investigating if others involved," Assistant Police Chief Paul Neudigate tweeted.

Earlier, Cincinnati police said there were "at least a couple of shooters" who opened fire inside of Cameo nightclub after 1:00 a.m. local time (0600 GMT) on Sunday.

"There are no indications this incident is terrorism related," he said in another tweet Sunday morning, noting the motive remains unknown.

Hundreds of people were inside of the nightclub at the time of the shooting, Neudigate told the local WLWT TV station, calling it a "chaotic crime scene."

One witness told the WLWT that he heard the club's DJ call for security about 10 minutes before the shooting.

Surveillance cameras were inside the club at the time of the shooting, police said.

Neudigate added that Sunday morning's shooting was one of the largest shooting cases that he has worked in his 27-plus years with the department.

"It's a large and complicated homicide scene," Cincinnati Police Department Sgt. Eric Franz said on ABC News.

"At this point we have multiple witnesses we're interviewing and we have nobody in custody," he added.

"Saturday night, it is a very young crowd. We have had incidents here in the past, but this is by far the worst," Capt. Kim Williams was quoted by a Fox News report as saying, noting the gunfire had prompted a lot of people leaving the scene.

"The biggest problem when you have a large crowd like this and the shots ring out, a lot of the witnesses disappear," Williams said.

So far police do not have any suspect in custody, and the investigation is ongoing.

Cameo nightclub had several problems in the past, authorities said. The club allows admission to anyone over the age of 18.
