CAIRO, March 26 (Xinhua) -- Five militants including a terrorist leader have been killed in a military campaign in Egypt's restive North Sinai province, the Egyptian army announced Sunday.
A spokesman for the Egyptian army said sixteen suspects were arrested as part of a military campaign to curb terrorist acts in the province.
According to the spokesman, a machinegun and 80 bullets were seized while two bombs were detonated during the campaign.
Egypt has been battling wave of anti-security attacks, mostly centered in Sinai since the ouster of the Islamist leader Mohamed Morsi in 2013.
An Islamic State branch in Sinai mostly claimed responsibility for the attacks that killed hundreds of police and army men.
