TEHRAN, March 24 (Xinhua) -- Iran and Russia will sign numerous cooperation documents during the upcoming visit of President Hassan Rouhani to Moscow, a presidential official was quoted as saying by semi-official ISNA news agency on Friday.

It was announced here on Thursday that Rouhani would make an official visit to Moscow on March 27 at the invitation of his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.

Parviz Esmaeili, the communication and information deputy of presidential office, told ISNA on Friday that documents on sectors covering legal and judiciary systems, road and urbanism, technology and communication, energy and electricity as well as standards and sports will be signed.

In addition to high-ranking political and economic state officials, a delegation of Iranian business people and economic activists will accompany Rouhani to Moscow to hold joint meetings with their Russian counterparts, Esmaeili said.

Hamid Aboutalebi, the president's deputy chief of staff for political affairs, said on Thursday that international and regional developments, terrorism issues and bilateral relations would also be discussed in the upcoming visit.

The trip was considered as one of Rouhani's important and historical official visits to Russia, ISNA quoted Aboutalebi as saying.

Experts say the Middle East conflicts, particularly the Syrian issue, have recently brought the two neighbors closer for cooperation.

Russia has been seeking to advance its nuclear, defense and agricultural and telecommunication cooperation with Iran over the past years.
