BRUSSELS, March 23 (Xinhua) -- NATO on Thursday announced in a statement that its next summit will take place in Brussels on May 25.

The event will include an inauguration of NATO's new headquarters, which is being built on a site opposite NATO's current headquarters.

"This will be an important opportunity for NATO leaders to decide how we can further strengthen our efforts, including in the fight against terrorism," NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said in the statement.

"While progress has been made on fairer burden-sharing within our Alliance, we will also address what more needs to be done to meet the pledge made by heads of state and government to spend more and better on defense," he added.

Stoltenberg has said U.S. President Donald Trump will highlight fair burden-sharing issue at the upcoming NATO Summit.
