BISHKEK, March 23 (Xinhua) -- Kyrgyz National Security has detained an active organizer of the banned Islamic group Hizb ut-Tahrir, the security said here on Thursday.
The suspect, a Kyrgyz citizen, was born in 1982, the security press release said. Security officers found banned extremist religious literature and electronic media containing extremist materials and documents of a foreign citizen, the release added.
Hizb ut-Tahrir, which aims to unite all Muslim countries into an Islamic caliphate, is officially banned in Central Asian countries and in Russia.
