SINGAPORE, March 23 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks finished higher on Thursday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) up 8.74 points, or 0.28 percent, to close at 3,126.93.
A total of 2.26 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 1.05 billion Singapore dollars (746.8 million U.S. dollars). Gainers outnumbered decliners 294 to 163.
The STI index lost 40.38 points, or 1.28 percent, to close at 3,118.19 on Wednesday.
