HK Customs charges lawbreakers over S'pore military vehicles transport

Source: Xinhua   2017-03-23 16:29:01

HONG KONG, March 23 (Xinhua) -- Two lawbreakers, who transported Singapore military vehicles into Hong Kong in Nov. 2016 without a required license, have been charged, according to Hong Kong Customs on Thursday.

Nine Singaporean armored vehicles, reportedly used in military drills in Taiwan, were seized by Hong Kong Customs on Nov. 23, 2016 while in transit at a dock in China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

The two lawbreakers are a shipping company and the captain of a container ship. The charge was brought by Hong Kong Customs on Wednesday.

"The case will be brought to court on Friday," an information officer of Hong Kong Customs told Xinhua on Thursday.

Hong Kong Customs, through an in-depth investigation, has sufficient evidence to prove that there's a violation of the strategic trade control system, the information officer said.
