ISLAMABAD, March 23 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani President Mamnoon Hussain on Thursday offered dialogue to neighboring India to peacefully resolve disputes, including the Kashmir dispute, which is the main irritant in bilateral relations.
President Hussain addressed the military parade held in the country's capital Islamabad on the occasion of Pakistan's Republic Day to slamming India for what he called its "irresponsible actions and violation of the ceasefire" which he said has posed threats to Pakistan's security.
Both countries declared ceasefire along the Line of Control in the disputed Kashmir region in 2003.
"We are ready for dialogue with India to find out a solution to the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the UN resolutions," the Pakistani president said. He reiterated Pakistan will continue moral, political and diplomatic support to the people of Kashmir for their right to self-determination.
Pakistan and India have fought three wars, two over Kashmir, since their independence from the British colonial rule in 1947.
The president also urged the international community to play its role for peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute.
He said Pakistan has no aggressive designs against any country but maintains minimum deterrence which is necessary for regional peace and stability.
Talking about the war on terror, President Hussain said Pakistan has been fighting the war on terrorism for years and the armed forces and other law enforcement have rendered huge sacrifices.
"Pakistan is now much secure than the past because of the unprecedented sacrifices of our armed forces and the people," he told the military parade.
He said the recently launched operation "Radd-ul-Fasaad" by the army will succeed to eliminate the remnants of the militants and rid the country of the menace forever. He said Pakistani nation has extended complete support to their security forces in the fight against terrorism.
He paid homage to the country's founder, Muhammad Ali Jinnah for his role to lead the Muslims of the sub-continent to get a sovereign state.
