GENEVA, March 22 (Xinhua) -- Luzern cantonal police reported Wednesday that seven people were injured after a train derailed shortly after leaving Luzern's train station in central Switzerland.
The incident took place shortly before 2 p.m., and involved a train that was travelling to Basel from the Italian city of Milan.
According to Swiss authorities, two of the train's wagons derailed, resulting in one of the wagons crashing into cross-wire suspension.
Five of the wounded were taken to hospital to receive treatment for their injuries.
The train involved was a Euro City 158. It remains unclear why the accident occurred, and when service will be able to resume.
