SOFIA, March 22 (Xinhua) -- Bulgaria has expelled two more Turkish citizens for threatening its national security, bringing the number of expelled Turks to five since Friday, authorities said Wednesday.

One Turkish citizen was expelled on Tuesday because he "carried out activities that created anti-Bulgarian attitudes in regions with mixed population in the country and threatened the unity of the Bulgarian nation," the State Agency for National Security (SANS) said in a statement.

The person has been residing in Bulgaria for several years as an employee of a Turkish state institution, SANS said in the statement.

The other Turkish citizen was declared unwelcome in Bulgaria because he represented a threat to national security, the statement said.

During his stay in Bulgaria, this person has attempted to acquire information constituting state secret, SANS said.

Meanwhile, he carried out activities against the unity of the nation and attempted to influence Bulgarian institutions for the benefit of another country, the country's counterintelligence service added.

Last week, SANS expelled three more Turkish citizens for carrying out activities against national security of Bulgaria, the statement recalled.
