JAKARTA, March 22 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia will host two international badminton tournaments for junior badminton players this year, the country's badminton association said here on Wednesday.

The World Junior Championship will be held from October 9 to 22 October in Yogyakarta province and the Asia Junior Championship from July 22 to 30 in Indonesia's capital of Jakarta, the association said in a statement.

"This is an honor for us to host the two tournaments together. Preparation has gotten underway," Bambang Roedyanto, senior official at the association said in the statement.

According to the association most of the players, under-19 years, vying in the two international sport events are world's best junior shuttlers.

For Indonesian players, the upcoming championships would be a warm-up for them before competing in the Youth Olympic 2018 in Buenes Aires of Argentina, the official said.

Indonesia has prepared a total of 26 young players for the tournaments, Roedyanto added.
