Senior police officer found dead in Burundi's capital

BUJUMBURA, March 20 (Xinhua) -- The corpse of a senior police officer was Monday discovered at Ngagara neighborhood in the Burundian capital Bujumbura, witnesses and the Burundian police spokesman confirmed.

"Charles Ndihokubwayo, a senior police officer who is a trainer at Mitakataka in Bubanza province was found dead today (Monday) morning inside the premises of Ngagara Parish. He had no signs of having been strangled or stabbed or shot," Burundian Police Spokesman Pierre Nkurikiye told Xinhua.

According to him, Charles Ndihokubwayo was last seen alive Sunday afternoon at Kinama -- a neighborhood close to Ngagara -- getting off a car from Mitakataka where he had attended the Sunday mass.

"Investigations have started to identify circumstances in Ndihokubwayo's death," Nkurikiye said. Enditem
