ANKARA, March 19 (Xinhua) -- The Turkish Armed Forces have carried out 11,738 military operations against the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in the last six months, said Turkish interior Minister Suleyman Soylu on Sunday.

In the operations, "153 major incidents have been prevented, 4 suicide attackers and 21 suspects plotting and preparing attacks have been caught and 22 bomb-laden cars seized," state-run Anadolu Agency cited Soylu as saying in Turkey's southern Karaman Province.

In the last six months, security forces have destroyed 800 PKK shelters in the ongoing military operations taken in Diyarbakir and Mardin province of southeastern Turkey, Soylu added.

Soylu also said the traffic checks to restrict the terrorists' movements are ongoing.

"In 2017, 7.72 million vehicles were checked and legal actions were taken for 92,519 of them," he said.

The PKK is listed as a terrorist organization in Turkey, the United States and the EU. According to the statistics from Anadolu Agency, more than 1,200 people, including security force personnel and civilians, have been killed since the group resumed its armed campaign in July 2015.
