RIYADH, March 19 (Xinhua) -- The Saudi authorities said on Sunday that it foiled several attempts to plant land mines and smuggle arms, ammunition and hashish on the country's southern borders, Saudi Press Agency reported.
A Interior Ministry spokesman said 19 Ethiopians, seven Yemenis, three Saudis and one unidentified person were arrested.
He also said eight land mines were seized and 23 different weapons, 32,160 bullets and 607 kilos of hashish were confiscated.
So far, a total of 1,265 infiltrators have been captured, with 847 Yemenis, 309 Ethiopians and 16 Somalis, the spokesman noted.
