DUBAI, March 17 (Xinhua) -- Germany can benefit from huge opportunities created by Expo 2020 Dubai, said a United Arab Emirates (UAE) official, reported UAE state news agency WAM Friday.

Dubai, the trade and logistics hub of the UAE, will be the first Arab city to host the six-month world expo in 2020.

Abdullah Al Saleh, under-secretary for foreign trade affairs at the UAE Ministry of Economy, also said that non-oil trade between the UAE and Germany stood at more than 15.5 billion U.S. dollars in 2015, and 10.9 billion dollars in the first nine months of 2016, hailing strong partnership between the two countries.

Some 110 German companies and 507 trade agencies are operating in the UAE, while 12,660 German trademarks are also registered here, according to the WAM report.

"There are still prospects for wider cooperation in line with the two countries' priorities and development plans," Al Saleh said.

The public and private sectors in the UAE are keen to promote mutual relations with Germany, he said, citing renewable energy, water, transportation, technology, education, healthcare and space industry as potential fields.
