NEW YORK, March 16 (Xinhua) -- A man was arrested for leaving a briefcase containing an improvised explosive device at a bus terminal in downtown New York City, police said.
Arsenio Mason, 39, left the briefcase on a chair in Deli Plus located inside the Port Authority at 625 8th Avenue at 17:00 on Wednesday, according to a criminal complaint emailed to Xinhua by the Manhattan district attorney's office on Thursday.
An officer of the Bomb Squad Unit in the NYC Police Department inspected the briefcase and determined it contained an improvised explosive device.
The device was then brought by the police to a secured environment and detonated.
A pipe containing methamphetamine residue was also recovered from Mason, who was arrested after he returned to retrieve the bag.
Mason is charged of possession of a weapon and possession of a controlled substance.
